PACI Fund Project

Time with A & N branched out in June 2014 to include its first A & N Publications book release with Moms, Monsters, Media & Margaritas. It is also expanded to include a site called the PACI Fund Project, which was being created for small businesses like A & N Publications, to help raise awareness and funds for a variety of childhood illnesses and diseases.

Shortly after I started Time with A & N I became aware of two things. First, that many of my fellow teachers have secondary sales businesses. Second, many of the new bloggers I met and started networking with had a brand they supported and recommended, which for some contributed to their blogging income. Even though I considered getting into some product sales as the business aspect of blogging, it just didn’t seem like a good fit. As I started meeting more and more bloggers, I found what would be the product behind A & N.

I’ve loved books and I’ve loved writing since I was a child. Even though I wrote several fictional books as a child, I never dreamed by first published book would be based on motherhood, but here it is. I decided I would write, publish, and sell my own book as the product and brand of Time with A & N. It is a humorous and inspirational look at modern day motherhood in our 21stCentury digital world. Our children are not only the first to grow up in this new digital age, but we are the first to enter motherhood in this new age. Much of what you come to expect from the posts on A & N you will find in this book with chapters about letting supermom go, the chaos of trying to balance it all, the monster of mommy guilt, the media frenzy of the mommy wars, embracing imperfection in ourselves and our children, the mother to do list of the bedroom with a look at marriage after motherhood, taking time for ourselves and to just be mommy, a journey to the girl we were to the woman we become in motherhood, and last what it means to chase happily ever after. It’s a book you don’t have to read front to back but can read at your leisure and return to your favorite chapters that resonate with you. It’s available for sale in both the ebook and print.

The second part of this A & N expansion was something I created with my readers in mind. I wanted to give back. I wanted to work for my readers. I pay my taxes like everyone else but unfortunately I feel there are programs that are underfunded. I also could have put money into bigger corporations to help me promote and sell my book, but again besides hopefully giving my readers something enjoyable to read I didn’t really see how that was working for my readers or truly showing my appreciation for them.

My husband and I use to try to give a small monthly donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research. As a middle class educator in our struggling economy with the constantly increasing expenses, unfortunately, once we had children of our own my husband and I quit donating the money. It was very little to begin with, but I always told myself one day I would go back to donating some money to them. That one day is now; however, I wanted my readers to be a part of this. Even though St. Jude’s is a great organization, I didn’t want to commit to one charity. My tentative plan at the moment is as follows and this is in the very early planning stages and honestly it depends on how involved readers get as to exactly where and how far it goes:

With 50% of the book sales profits I want to donate them to readers’ charity of choice. I plan to change the charity every 30-60 days depending on how long it takes to make a reasonable donation. I’m a start my goals small person and raise the bar as time goes.

I created the site called the PACI Fund Project for the charity side of this book project. PACI stands for Parents Against Childhood Illnesses. Again, if and where this site takes off to is really dependent on current and hopeful future readers. I hope to keep readers informed of charities and the amount of money donated to them. I will also be sharing information, links, and writing posts to raise awareness for those charities donated to on the PACI site. I am hoping other small businesses, writers, bloggers, and really any parent or adult that has a small side income will consider being a PACI partner. As a PACI partner they would also agree that a portion of their sales for a designated 30-60 days will go towards the current selected charity of the time. I will create a space to list and promote all partners on the PACI site.

I want to raise money and awareness for charities my readers and fellow blog community members care about so please send me your suggestions at glennbabies@gmail.com. If you are a small business owner, writer or blogger, and would like to see how you can be a part of the PACI project again please email me. I look forward to working together with my readers, friends, and the parenting blog community. You can buy the ebook version of Moms, Monsters, Media & Margaritas for $4.99 or less or order a print version for $10.00 on Lulu.  If you would like to purchase a signed personalized copy of the book you may order one through me at glennbabies@gmail.com with paypal.

I cannot say thank you enough to readers, my friends, and family that have supported me in my pursuit of this new goal. This is my pay it forward campaign and I hope you stick along for the ride to see how it all unfolds. You can visit the PACI Fund Project websitehere
